Eelco Hilgersom b. 1979

Modern nature, abstracted-and alive.

Eelco Hilgersom, born in Amsterdam in 1979, channels his lifelong fascination with organic structures into bold, mixed-media sculptures. From an early age, he was captivated by the hidden geometries of the natural world-twisted roots, seashells, cellular forms. These early impressions now shape his acclaimed Habitat series: abstract beings composed of thousands of colored lenses layered over wood and resin, reflecting light and emotion in equal measure.

Each sculpture is a suspended organism-alive, shifting, breathing. Hilgersom plays with contrast: color and clarity, scale and stillness, softness and structure. His work draws the viewer in through rhythm, reflection, and tactile curiosity. The goal: to awaken a sense of wonder and deep recognition.

His Habitat family consists of unique, named works-Braver, Juicy, Foxy, Serene-each embodying a specific emotional frequency through shape and hue. Whether mounted on walls or free-standing, they transform space into pulsing tableaux of movement and sensation.

Hilgersom's work is not only visually striking-it is institutionally recognized. In 2025, he was featured in SHIFT, the inaugural exhibition at MOYA (Museum of Young Art) in Oosterhout, marking a pivotal museum debut that affirmed his growing impact in the contemporary art scene.

He is also represented by leading galleries worldwide and has exhibited at major international art fairs, including Art Miami. His unique visual language-sensual, sculptural, and emotionally coded-continues to captivate collectors and curators across continents.

Hilgersom does not believe in creative limits. He learns materials by intuition, studies their properties, and reshapes them until they feel alive. The result is art that is striking and sensual, abstract yet deeply organic.

To encounter Eelco Hilgersom's art is to step into a liminal world where form becomes creature, color becomes emotion, and sculpture transcends the static.

It is nature, reimagined-resonant, radiant, and utterly alive.
